What Python full stack projects should a fresher build?

A Python full stack project for a fresher's resume can be built from what job listings name: a REST API in Django or FastAPI on a SQL database, with a React front end, kept in Git. Of 29 full stack listings Naukri showed freshers on 2 November 2026, none required a project; 20 named React, 19 a database, 14 Git.

What Python full stack jobs for freshers ask for

Python full stack jobs open to freshers in India name a stack more than anything else: React, a database, Git and REST. On 2 November 2026 we read Naukri's search for python full stack developer jobs at 0 years of experience (Naukri, python full stack developer, 0 years), which reported 2,398 listings. Of the first 60, we kept 52, dropping 8 repeats of the same company and title, and read each description by hand. Only 29 of the 52 are titled full stack: the search drifts to software engineer and other roles after its second page. The counts below are those 29, with all 52 beside them.

Ten of the 29 full stack listings ask in their own text for more than a fresher: two name a minimum of years, and eight ask for previous experience in the role, most with the same line, "Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role". Naukri notes that 24 of the 52 descriptions were "aggregated from external source", and 15 share a line of eight or more words, word for word, with another company's listing. Fifty-two listings are a small sample from one search on one day, and a listing's requirement is not a hiring decision. Listings titled both full stack and AI ask for a web app with a feature built on a large language model, as our guide full-stack AI engineer in India shows.

Python or Node.js in full stack listings

Python full stack listings for freshers name Node.js almost twice as often as a Python web framework. Of the 29 full stack listings Naukri returned for python full stack developer on 2 November 2026, 15 named Node.js and 8 named Django, FastAPI or Flask. Python itself was named in 23. Most of these listings give the backend as a choice, in lines such as "Node.js, Python, Ruby, or PHP" or "Node.js/Python", and only one required a Python framework and React together with no alternative: "React and Python Django".

For a fresher, the count says that the frontend half of a Python full stack project travels further than the backend half. React was named in 20 of the 29, more than Node.js (15) or a Python framework (8). A Python project shows Python, a framework and an API; the listing a student applies to says which backend that job names, and the React front end is common to most of them.

Django, FastAPI or Flask

Fresher listings do not choose between Django, FastAPI and Flask. Of the 29 full stack listings, 6 named Django, 3 FastAPI and 2 Flask; across all 52, Django was named in 8, FastAPI in 5 and Flask in 4, most of them as one option in a list. The counts are too small to rank the three.

Each framework says what it is for. Django calls itself "a high-level Python web framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design" (Django). FastAPI calls itself "a modern, fast (high-performance), web framework for building APIs with Python based on standard Python type hints" (FastAPI). Flask calls itself "a lightweight WSGI web application framework" that "is designed to make getting started quick and easy, with the ability to scale up to complex applications" (Flask). A full stack project with a React front end needs its backend to serve an API to that front end, and the listings give no reason to prefer one of the three for it.

Python full stack projects for beginners

A first Python full stack project for a resume can be built from the parts the 29 full stack listings name most. The two projects below are ours, not projects any listing asked for.

Project 1: a REST API in Django or FastAPI. Pick something with real records, such as a library, a hostel's complaints or a club's events, and build a REST API for it in Django or FastAPI on PostgreSQL or MySQL: users sign in, and can create, list, update and delete their records. Write tests for each endpoint, and keep the code in Git with a commit per change. Of the 29 listings, 19 named a database, 15 APIs (REST by name in 11), 14 Git and 9 testing.

Project 2: a React front end, deployed. Build a React app that calls that API: a sign-in screen, a list, a form, and a loading and an error state for every request. Package the API and its database with Docker and deploy both, so the app runs at a public address. React was named in 20 of the 29, Docker in 8 and deployment in 8. What React listings for freshers ask the front end to do is in our guide React projects for your resume.

A Python full stack project with AI

Few Python full stack listings for freshers ask for AI. Of the 29 full stack listings, 4 named AI, and 3 named a large language model, GenAI or an AI API: one asks for GenAI, one lists "AI agents using LLM APIs" in the job's work, and one asks the developer to "Integrate AI services (OpenAI / Gemini APIs)" and calls "LLMs, AI agents, or AI APIs" "a strong plus". Across all 52, AI was named in 11.

A Python full stack project with AI adds one feature built on a model to a Django or FastAPI backend and its React front end: a search box that answers questions from the app's own records, for example, served by the Python backend and shown in the React front end. What fresher listings ask such a feature to do is in our guide RAG projects for your resume.

What to show with a Python full stack project

Most full stack listings for freshers do not ask for a project. Of the 29 full stack listings, none required one, 1 counted projects, 3 listed them as a plus, and 25 did not mention the candidate's projects. The one that counted them asks for "Demonstrated interest in full-stack development through projects, internships, or course work." The pluses are "live projects, GitHub work, or AI apps are highly preferred", "A portfolio of previous web applications developed as a Full Stack Developer would be an advantage", and "product development projects" among other experience.

A Python full stack project made for these listings is one someone else can open and check: a repository whose README says what the app does, how to run it and its tests, and which tools it uses and why, and a link to the running app. On a resume, name the project by what it does, and use the words the listings use, such as Python, Django or FastAPI, React, PostgreSQL, REST or Docker, where the project really uses them. That last is our suggestion: none of the 52 listings says how to list a project on a resume, or what a project does for an application.

What project lists suggest, and what the listings name

Lists of Python full stack project ideas lead with the same projects: a to-do list, a blog, an e-commerce site, a job portal, a hospital or library management system. The project lists that rank for python full stack projects in India, mostly from training institutes, give these ideas without saying where they come from.

The 52 Python full stack listings Naukri showed freshers on 2 November 2026 name none of them. None names an e-commerce site, a CRUD app, a dashboard, a REST API project or a chatbot as the candidate's work. The kinds of project the listings do name are AI apps, previous web applications in a portfolio, product development projects, research projects and system monitoring. What the listings name, again and again, is the stack, so the idea matters less than whether the project uses React, a database, Git and an API the way the listings describe.

Where Prokopi Elite fits

Prokopi Elite's curriculum, as its program page lists it, has a module called "Backend (complete) — Python + FastAPI + PostgreSQL", described as "Production-shaped REST backend with auth + DB", over "6 weeks", and one called "Frontend (complete) — HTML/CSS/JS + React", described as "Build React UIs that consume your own APIs", over "4 weeks". The program, its modules and its terms are on the Prokopi Elite page.
