Placement preparation for B.Tech and MCA students: the rounds, as the companies publish them

What are the rounds in campus placement?

Campus placement rounds, as TCS, Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant publish them, are an aptitude or cognitive test, a coding test, a technical test, a communication assessment and an interview, in different combinations. Placement preparation means preparing for those rounds. Check eligibility first: TCS and Accenture list MCA, while Wipro's Elite notice for the 2024 batch did not.

Campus placement rounds at TCS, Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant

TCS, Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant each set out their campus placement rounds in a hiring document, and we read all four on 19 October 2026. Each document covers one drive. Rounds change between drives, so the notice your own college receives is the version that counts.

Company and documentRounds and times, as listed
TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT), batch of 2025: TCS's page, printed in a college notice of 24 February 2025 (TCS NQT 2025)Foundation section, 75 minutes: numerical, verbal and reasoning ability, 25 minutes each. Advanced section, 115 minutes: advanced quantitative and reasoning ability (25) and advanced coding (90). 190 minutes in all. Then interviews for the Prime, Digital or Ninja category
Accenture Associate Software Engineer (ASE), pass-outs up to 2025: the India campus posting, closing 9 January 2026 (Accenture ASE)A mandatory 20-minute mock assessment. Then four assessments: behavioural and cognitive (40 minutes), technical (45), coding with 3 questions (60) and communication (about 30). Then an interview
Wipro Elite, 2024 batch: a university circular of 4 February 2025 (Wipro Elite 2024)Online assessment, 140 minutes: aptitude, verbal and analytical (60), coding (60) and a written communication test (20). Then a 20-minute voice round, a business interview, and pre-skilling training before onboarding
Cognizant cybersecurity hiring, 2025 batch: the company's deck, posted by a university (Cognizant 2025)Screening. Then an online communication assessment, an online technical assessment and an offline technical interview. No times given

Across the four documents, the campus placement rounds that recur are an aptitude or cognitive test, a coding test, a technical test, a communication assessment and an interview. No two of the four companies list the same rounds in the same order.

Placement eligibility criteria: is MCA eligible?

Eligibility is the first filter in campus placement, and it differs by company. Before any round, each company's document limits who may apply by degree, branch, marks, backlogs and gaps in education. For an MCA student the degree list decides it: TCS and Accenture list MCA, while Wipro's Elite circular for the 2024 batch and Cognizant's 2025 cybersecurity drive do not.

Company and documentDegrees listedMarks, backlogs and gaps
TCS NQT 2026, batches of 2024, 2025 and 2026 (university letter)B.Tech, B.E., M.Tech, M.E., MCA, M.Sc. or M.S., in any specialisation60% or equivalent CGPA in 10th, 12th, diploma, graduation and post-graduation. No pending backlog. Gaps of no more than 24 months in all. Age 18 to 28
Accenture ASE, pass-outs up to 2025B.E., B.Tech, M.E., M.Tech and M.Sc. in all branches; MCA; integrated dual degreesNo percentage stated. No active backlogs. No gaps during the current degree, finished in its stipulated time. No more than 23 months of full-time experience
Wipro Elite, 2024 batchB.E., B.Tech, and 5-year integrated M.E. or M.Tech, in CS, IT and "Circuital" branches only. MCA not listed60% in 10th and 12th, and 60% or 6.0 GPA in graduation. No active backlogs. At most three years of gap between 10th and graduation
Cognizant cybersecurity hiring, 2025 batchB.E., B.Tech, M.E. or M.Tech in cybersecurity, or CS or IT with a cybersecurity specialisation or electives. MCA not listed60% in 10th, 12th, diploma, UG and PG. No standing arrears

Three of the four placement documents set 60%, and Cognizant's adds that "rounding off 59.9% is not allowed". TCS, Accenture and Wipro accept full-time education only. A B.Tech student outside computer science should read the branch line too: Wipro's circular said "CS/IT/Circuital only", while TCS accepts any specialisation and Accenture all branches.

Placement aptitude round: what the first test covers

In three of the four companies' documents, the first scored test is aptitude or cognitive ability, and each company describes the aptitude round differently. TCS's NQT Foundation section has three 25-minute parts: numerical ability, verbal ability and reasoning ability. A candidate aiming at TCS's Digital or Prime offer must also take the Advanced section, which adds 25 minutes of "Advanced Quantitative and Reasoning Ability" (TCS NQT 2025).

Accenture's 40-minute "Behavioral and Cognitive Assessment" pairs a personality section with a cognitive one, which the posting describes as "Immersive & gamified (puzzles)" and "Numerical equations". Accenture also requires a 20-minute mock assessment first, which "will help you to get experience of the assessments" (Accenture ASE). Wipro's Elite online assessment for the 2024 batch opens with a 60-minute "Aptitude Test - Verbal, Analytical" (Wipro Elite 2024). Cognizant's 2025 cybersecurity deck lists no aptitude test: its first online round is a communication assessment (Cognizant 2025).

For aptitude practice, that means timed sets by section. TCS times each part separately, so speed on one kind of question cannot make up for another.

Which programming language for placement coding rounds?

Placement coding rounds accept different languages at different companies, so use a language the company's notice lists, and one you know well. Accenture's ASE coding assessment gives 3 questions in 60 minutes, to be solved in any one of: Java, Dotnet, Python, C++ or C# for backend; SQL for database; or HTML, CSS, React.js or Vue.js for front end (Accenture ASE). Wipro's Elite 2024 online assessment has 60 minutes of "Coding on C, C++, Java, Python programming languages" (Wipro Elite 2024).

TCS's NQT gives 90 minutes to "Advanced Coding" in its Advanced section, and neither TCS document we read names a language (TCS NQT 2025, TCS NQT 2026). Cognizant's 2025 cybersecurity deck lists no separate coding round; it says candidates "will be evaluated on Java, ANSI SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript skills" in its default skill cluster (Cognizant 2025).

Python is on Accenture's and Wipro's lists and not in Cognizant's default cluster. A student who codes in Python should read each notice's language list before a drive. For Cognizant's 2025 cybersecurity drive, that list meant Java.

Technical and communication rounds in campus placement

The technical and communication rounds in campus placement test what the aptitude and coding tests do not: computer science theory and English. Accenture's 45-minute technical assessment covers "Common Application and MS office", "Pseudocode", "Fundamentals of Networking, Security and Cloud" and "Computer Science (Basic Programming Concepts)" (Accenture ASE). Cognizant's online technical assessment is set on its skill cluster, by default Java, ANSI SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and an offline technical interview follows it (Cognizant 2025).

Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant each test communication as a round of its own. Accenture's communication assessment, about 30 minutes, scores spoken English on "Pronunciation, Fluency, Active Listening, Spoken English Understanding, Vocabulary, Articulation, Grammar" and written English on "Etiquette, Content, Grammar". Wipro's Elite 2024 process has a 20-minute written communication test inside the online assessment and a 20-minute voice round after it. Cognizant's first online round is a communication assessment. TCS's NQT tests English as 25 minutes of verbal ability within its Foundation section.

Placement preparation for B.Tech and MCA students: a plan by round

This placement preparation plan is our advice, not the companies'. It follows the rounds that TCS, Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant list, in the order a drive meets them.

  1. Eligibility first. Check your marks, backlogs, gaps and degree against each company that visits your campus. An MCA student should confirm the degree list; a B.Tech student outside computer science, the branch line.
  2. Aptitude. Practise numerical, reasoning and verbal questions in timed sets, one section at a time, as TCS times each part at 25 minutes.
  3. Coding. Choose one language that the companies you target list, and solve data structures and algorithms problems against a clock: TCS allows 90 minutes, Accenture 60 minutes for 3 questions.
  4. Technical. Revise DBMS and SQL, operating systems, computer networks and object-oriented programming, and practise writing pseudocode, which Accenture's technical test lists.
  5. Communication. Practise talking about your projects aloud and writing short, correct messages: Accenture scores fluency and pronunciation, and Wipro holds a voice round.
  6. Interview. Be ready to explain how your own projects are designed, from the classes up. Our guide LLD vs HLD, and which a fresher should learn first covers design at both levels. A student aiming at AI roles rather than a software engineer intake can read AI engineer vs ML engineer for how those two titles differ.

Where the real placement details reach a student

For TCS, Wipro and Cognizant, the placement rounds we quote came from documents posted by colleges and universities, not from the companies' careers sites. On 19 October 2026, the address of TCS's NQT 2025 page led to TCS's India entry-level careers page, which listed no NQT drive (TCS entry level). Infosys's graduate careers page lists programs, among them InfyTQ, HackWithInfy and Power Programmers, and no rounds or eligibility (Infosys graduates). Capgemini's page for students and graduates gives neither (Capgemini students and graduates). Accenture is the exception: its India campus portal publishes the whole posting.

Placement drive notices also name the portals where registration happens. TCS's notices send candidates to the TCS NextStep portal, and Cognizant's deck says communication runs "predominantly through Superset platform". A notice can also carry conditions the rounds do not show: Wipro's circular adds pre-skilling training before onboarding and a 12-month service agreement.

The companies also warn about money. TCS's NQT 2025 page says "TCS does not ask candidates to deposit any money for employment offers", and Cognizant's deck says "Cognizant does not entertain payments of any kind from candidates or vendors for employment." Treat a request for money in a company's name as a warning sign: both companies say they do not ask for it.

How Prokopi Elite prepares for campus placement rounds

Prokopi Elite, Prokopi's program for college students with daily live classes, has a module for each kind of campus placement round: aptitude and communication, coding, CS theory and interviews. "Aptitude + Reasoning + Communication (Placement Core)", which Prokopi describes as "Clear the first filter — written rounds + HR", runs alongside the main program. "DSA (Python) — Interview Core (the spine)" covers "250-350 problems, company-tagged", with company-tagged sets for TCS NQT and Infosys. "CS Fundamentals (DBMS, SQL, OS, CN, OOP) — Interview Ready" sets out to "Answer the theory every service-company round asks". The interview practice and placement module adds an ATS one-page resume, timed mock coding for NQT and HackWithInfy, and registration on TCS NextStep, Naukri and Unstop. The modules and their topics are on the Prokopi Elite page.

Frequently asked questions

What are the rounds in campus placement?

Campus placement rounds differ by company, but the hiring documents of TCS, Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant for the 2024 to 2026 batches draw on the same kinds of round: an aptitude or cognitive test, a coding test, a technical test, a communication assessment and an interview. TCS's NQT for the 2025 batch was a 190-minute test, 90 minutes of it coding. The drive notice your college receives gives the exact rounds.

Is MCA eligible for campus placements?

MCA students are eligible for some campus placement drives and not others, so the degree list in each notice decides. TCS's NQT 2026 letter lists Master of Computer Applications among its eligible degrees, and Accenture's Associate Software Engineer posting lists MCA. Wipro's Elite circular for the 2024 batch listed only B.E./B.Tech and integrated M.E./M.Tech, and Cognizant's 2025 cybersecurity drive listed engineering degrees in cybersecurity, CS or IT.

How much percentage is required for campus placement?

The percentage required for campus placement is set by each company's notice. TCS's NQT 2026 letter asks for 60% or equivalent CGPA in 10th, 12th, diploma, graduation and post-graduation. Wipro's Elite 2024 circular asks for 60% in 10th and 12th, and 60% or 6.0 GPA in graduation. Cognizant's 2025 deck asks for 60% throughout. Accenture's Associate Software Engineer posting states no percentage, but requires no active backlogs.

Which programming language should I use in placement coding rounds?

In placement coding rounds, use a language the company's notice lists and one you know well. Accenture's Associate Software Engineer coding assessment accepts Java, Dotnet, Python, C++ or C#, SQL, or HTML, CSS, React.js or Vue.js. Wipro's Elite 2024 coding test lists C, C++, Java and Python. Cognizant's 2025 cybersecurity deck evaluates Java, ANSI SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript by default, and TCS's NQT documents name no language.
